Ministries of the Long Creek Church of Christ
Evangelism
"For I am not ashamed
of the Gospel of Christ, it is the power of God to salvation
for everyone who believes..." Rom 1:16
Evangelism is simply telling someone we meet about the hope
that we have in Jesus Christ. It is the job and
privilege of every Christian.
Our Pulpit Minister is Brad Fry; he and his wife, Shirley,
joined the Long Creek family in July, 2005. He is a
graduate of what is now Sunset Bible Institute, and formerly
served at the North Oak congregation in Mineral Wells,
Texas. Our Family Life Minister is Dan King. He and his wife,
Allene, have been worshiping at Long Creek for several
years. Dan’s part-time ministry includes preaching,
teaching, and worship organization.
Evangelism starts at the home congregation, but expands into
the outside world by Internet, print and electronic media,
as well as support of overseas missions, with the ultimate
purpose of glorifying God.
In 2005,
Long Creek increased its emphasis on evangelism. A mission
trip to
Trinidad
and Tobago
was undertaken to assess the needs of the
Gasparillo congregation. This
was facilitated by Richard Ramkissoon,
minister at the local
Windsor
Lake
congregation, and native of
Trinidad.
A followup visit to
Columbia
by the minister in
Trinidad,
Cosmus Lewis, and his wife,
June, was conducted in January, 2006. Current plans are to
support the
Gasparillo
Vacation
Bible
School
in July, 2006, with other members of Long Creek traveling to
Trinidad.
In an
effort to support evangelism in
South
Carolina,
we have begun to help provide financial support to Paul
Diggs, a minister in
Edgefield,
SC.
He is supported by other SC congregations as well. Through
the leadership of Dan Knight, we continue to support
Palmetto Bible Camp, an effective
evanglelistic effort directed mainly to the youth of
our region.
In 2006,
with the expertise of Barbara and Keith Ball, the House to
House publication will be delivered to 1000 households in
the immediate vicinity of Long Creek, proclaiming Christ,
the Good News, as well as the activities of Long Creek.
